Chris Pothier is from Cape Cod Massachusetts and currently resides in central MA as he finishes his Master’s Degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Advanced Level Coaching at Springfield College. He graduated University of Southern Maine in May 2010 after earning his Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science. His goals are to build from the grass roots up a strong developmental youth field hockey program for both females and males in the New England area.

Coach Pothier has played with the US Men’s National outdoor and indoor teams over the course of 2 years from 2004-2005. Learning the game from some of the best coaches and players the US has to offer, this has enabled him to develop a very unique style of coaching. Bringing in many different aspects of sport such as education, skill technique and sport psychology. Having this background in education will allow Cape Ann FHC to develop the best student athlete possible to represent our club at various showcase tournaments around the country. Coach Pothier sticks true to the clubs mission and aspires to increase his knowledge of coaching and field hockey on a daily basis.

Nate started playing field hockey in 7th grade in Sandwich, MA where he quickly fell in love with the game. He continued his high school career at Sandwich High School until his senior year when he was selected to train with the men’s national team in 2002. A three time All-Cape selection Nate had a successful training camp which saw him named to the U.S. National Team in 2003. Nate played on the US Men's National Field Hockey Team through his last tour in the UK in September 2010 finishing an 8 year playing career.  He has played in over 20 countries worldwide including a stint in Ireland playing for the Corinthians Hockey Club in 2008.

As well as extensive playing career, Nate has coached at all levels highlighted by an appointment from 2005-2007 at NCAA Division one Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Nate is also a regular on the summer camp circuit having coached at various camps all across the US and internationally.
